Rule 17
Promotion Committee

(1) There will be a promotion committee as follows to make recommendations for promotion to the posts of various military services:-
(a) For the above post,–
(1) The Commander-in-Chief appoints – Chairman
(2) Head of department designated by the Commander-in-Chief - Member
(3) Superintendent appointed by the Commander-in-Chief (4) Superiors in command – members
(5) Executive – Member – Secretary
(b) For the post of Assistant Rathi and Mahasenani,–
(1) Chariot appointed by the Commander-in-Chief (2) Worker – Member
(3) Superintendent appointed by the Commander-in-Chief (4) Superior in command – Member
(5) Military Secretary - Member - Secretary
(c) For the post of Sub-Senior to Major-Senior-
(1) Chariot appointed by the Commander-in-Chief (2) Worker – Member
(3) Assistant Rathi-Sadasya under the command designated by the Commander-in-Chief (4) Head of concerned Service Group – Member
(5) Military Secretary - Member - Secretary
(d) For the rank of constable to Chief Subedar-
(1) The senior officer designated by the head of the concerned service group – Chairman
(2) An officer or rank-member designated by the head of the concerned service group (3) Working Officer/Post or equivalent of the concerned Service Group – Member – Secretary
(2) In the case of an officer, the promotion committee will take action related to the promotion subject to this regulation, after receiving a written report that they have fulfilled the qualifications as per rule 13 for promotion from the military secretary department and in the case of the rank and file.
(3) The chairman, member and member-secretary of the promotion committee shall make a confession as per schedule-3 before working as a member of the promotion committee.
